On the occasion of the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the United States and the 6th US China Sister Cities Summit, the city of Wuxi in East China's Jiangsu province and San Bernardino County in California, the United States, established a sister-city relationship.

This marks the 286th pair of China-US sister cities and the 40th pair of US-Jiangsu sister cities.

To date, Wuxi and its counties have forged sister-city relationships with eight counterparts in the US, including three municipal-level relations with Chattanooga City, Tennessee, San Antonio City, Texas, and San Bernardino County, California.

The friendly exchanges between Wuxi and San Bernardino County can be traced back to 2015, when Curt Hagman, supervisor of San Bernardino County's Fourth District, led a delegation to Wuxi.

The two cities' relations are marked by strong economic and trade cooperation. In 2023, both sides extended the memorandum on trade and investment cooperation in micro-electronics, information technology, and automobile manufacturing.

San Bernardino County delegations have not only praised Wuxi's internationalized business environment and industrial foundation, but also expressed willingness to deepen economic and trade cooperation with the city.

People-to-people exchanges serve as a bridge to further the friendship between the two peoples, and over the years, both cities have carried out various exchange activities in the domains of education, youth, sports, and healthcare.

Jesse Armendarez, member of San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors, signed an agreement on behalf of the San Bernardino County to establish a sister-city relationship with Wuxi when attending the 2024 Wuxi International Month in March, providing a solid foundation for enhanced people-to-people exchanges and collaboration in various fields.

Xishan district of Wuxi city and Fontana City of San Bernardino County signed a memorandum of understanding on establishing friendship-city relationship on the same day, a significant step forward for more mutually beneficial cooperation opportunities and closer people-to-people ties.
